Student-created Pass (NOW PASS)
When students create their own passes from their devices, they MUST state their “Departing from” and “Destination” locations. The “Reason for the pass” may be required, optional, or hidden. The student must click on Submit to create the pass.

Approving a Student’s Pass
Adults have several ways to approve a student’s pass: computer/tablet, student device, or Mobile App.
From the teacher’s laptop:
Once the pass has been submitted, it will appear on the “Departing from” teacher’s Dashboard in the white “WAITING APPROVAL” status. That teacher can click on APPROVE or CANCEL from the teacher’s Dashboard.

From the student’s device:
On the student’s device, the teacher should click on the teacher’s name, enter the PIN (from the teacher’s Profile settings), and then click APPROVE.

Once the student’s pass has been approved, the pass will turn green, showing as an ACTIVE pass on the teacher’s Dashboard.

REMEMBER:
When on My Passes, teachers will only see passes to/from locations they are linked to in their Profile or passes to/from them once the student clicks on Submit. Switching to All Passes on the Dashboard will allow teachers to view all active passes in the school.

If a teacher has selected All Passes, the teacher may need to click on the Pause Dashboard button prior to approving/denying a pass to freeze the order of passes.

If the teacher paused the Dashboard, click Resume Dashboard so that the Dashboard will continue to update.

From a mobile device:
You can also access the system from your mobile device the same way you access other websites. Open the browser on your device and enter https://pass.securly.com/login. Once open, you can interact with passes on your mobile device the same way you do on your laptop.
OR
You can also interact with passes from your mobile device via the Pass App. Go to the Teacher/Staff Pass Training Document or click here for directions to access and utilize the Pass mobile App.
Adding Comments to Passes
You can add comments to a student’s pass by clicking on the Comment icon to the right of a student’s pass that appears on the Dashboard. These comments can be made while a pass is awaiting approval, running, or has ended.
Click on Comment icon to add comment.

Comments on student pass

REMEMBER: Students can also see the comments, so make sure your comments are non-student specific and professional in nature.
Ending a Student’s Pass
When the student returns to class, the teacher can end the pass from the teacher’s Dashboard or from the student’s device.
On the teacher’s Dashboard, the teacher will locate the student’s ACTIVE pass and click on the END/KEEP button, thus ending the pass.

From the student’s device, the teacher will click on To: Location, enter the teacher’s PIN, and then click END/KEEP

Auto Passes
Auto Pass is an optional feature that is controlled by the admin at your school and allows schools to make certain locations available for students to activate and/or end without requiring a teacher to touch their dashboard or the student device to give pass approval. This is a 2-step process.
Step 1 - Your admin will choose the locations in the building that can be utilized as auto pass locations.
Step 2 - Teachers can choose which locations to use as auto pass locations from their own Dashboard.
If this feature is activated by your admin, the “Auto Passes” tile will appear on your Dashboard. Click on the edit pencil to select the Auto Pass locations and any limits that you would like to apply.

When choosing those locations, adult users can choose to have the students do the following:
START/STOP their own passes
START their own passes
STOP their own passes
Teachers can also limit the number of students who are out of their classroom on an Auto Pass at any given time.

REMEMBER:
Limits can be adjusted throughout the day to meet the needs of certain classes. You can “Turn off” the auto pass functionality for one class and then reset the limit for another class, both with just a few clicks. Remember to click Submit any time you make a change on this screen.

Following the pass protocols that have been set up in each teacher’s classroom, students can create passes to those auto pass locations the same way that they create their own passes. Once permission has been given to leave the classroom, the student can then START his own pass from his own device by clicking on the Play button.

When the student returns to the classroom, the student can end the pass by clicking on the STOP button on his device, or the teacher can end the pass from his Dashboard by clicking END/KEEP.
