Offboarding Securly Flex: How to Wind Down Flex at Your School
This guide explains how to cleanly wind down Securly Flex when your school is discontinuing the product. The steps are the reverse of the standard onboarding process: because Flex is a web-based scheduling platform (not software installed on devices), offboarding is mostly about exporting your data, communicating the end date to staff and students, and disconnecting the roster sync before the account is deactivated. Working in this order preserves the records you need and prevents users from being re-synced after you've removed them.
Before you begin: export your data
Once the Flex account is deactivated, its data is no longer accessible. Export anything you need for your records first:
- Attendance and activity records. Export attendance and activity/scheduling data from the Attendance and reporting screens. This is important if you need documentation that students received required services or attended scheduled flex periods.
- User lists. From My School Settings > Users (and the Teacher List screen), export your user and teacher lists so you have a record of accounts and roles. Note that the exported Teacher List format does not match the CSV user-file upload format.
- Prior-year data. If you used Flex in a prior school year, remember that access to that historical data also ends at deactivation—export anything you need to retain.
Step 1: Communicate the end date and stop launching flex periods
Reverse the "launch" step first. Let admins, teachers, staff, and students know the date Flex will stop being used, and stop scheduling new Flex Periods and activities beyond that date. Make sure any final attendance is taken and recorded before you stop, since attendance can't be captured once activities are no longer run.
Step 2: Wind down My School Settings
During onboarding you customized My School Settings—Rooms, Flex Periods, Activity Types, and Priorities. As you approach the end date, stop creating new Flex Periods and activities. You don't need to manually delete every setting (the account deactivation handles that), but ending scheduling here is the practical reverse of the setup you did during implementation.
Step 3: Disconnect rostering and user syncing
Unwind the roster connection you set up during onboarding so Flex stops pulling in and updating users:
- SIS / Securly Sync rostering: if users were provisioned through your SIS via Securly Sync, disconnect that data source so no new users are synced into Flex. Note that Securly Sync may also feed other Securly products (Pass, Filter, Home, Classroom)—only disconnect it if Flex was the only product using it. If other products still rely on it, leave the connection in place and instead have Securly stop the Flex-specific sync.
- CSV user file: if you provisioned users by uploading a CSV user file, simply stop uploading new files—there is no ongoing connection to disconnect.
Disconnecting the sync first is important: if you remove or deactivate users while a third-party sync is still active, the next sync can re-create or overwrite them.
Step 4: Deactivate users and remove admin access
Reverse the "verify users and set roles" step. Once syncing is stopped, you can deactivate users and remove or downgrade admin roles under My School Settings > Users if you want to revoke access before the account is turned off. Keep in mind that edits to synced users are overwritten on the next sync—so only do this after Step 3.
Step 5: Disable logins and confirm deactivation with Securly
Finally, reverse the first onboarding step—logging in via SSO at flex.securly.com. Contact your Client Project Manager, your account team, or the Securly support team to schedule the account deactivation. Securly completes the final shutoff, which disables the SSO logins (Google, Clever, Microsoft/Office 365, ClassLink, GG4L) and turns off the Flex system for your school. The steps above ensure your data is exported and your roster is cleanly disconnected before that happens.
Offboarding checklist (reverse of onboarding)

- Wind down My School Settings (stop creating Flex Periods/activities).
- Disconnect SIS / Securly Sync rostering (or stop CSV uploads).
- Deactivate users and remove admin access.
- Confirm account deactivation with Securly to disable logins and shut off the system.
Getting help
