Securly AI Chat is a conversational AI designed specifically for K-12 student use. With AI Chat, schools can teach students how to use generative AI, while maintaining visibility and control over how students are interacting with it.

Like similar AI tools, students engage with AI Chat in a conversational way. They can ask questions, ranging from simple queries to more detailed research inquiries on any subject. AI Chat uses state-of-the-art conversational AI to comprehend and respond. Unlike other AI tools, however, Securly AI Chat is designed specifically for the needs and concerns of K-12 schools.

This guide will walk you through the options available to you in AI Chat. If you're looking to get started, here's how you can enable AI Chat for your school.

Securly AI Chat is part of Securly's AI Transparency Solution. To enable prompt-level visibility for teachers, you can enable integration with Securly Classroom. To enable AI Safety Alerts, you will need to have Securly Aware. Securly Aware will automatically monitor student AI usage via the same browser extension used for Securly Filter.

Navigating the AI Chat Interface

AI Transparency: The AI Transparency Dashboard will show you usage data for Securly AI Chat and third-party AI tools across your entire organization.

Securly AI Chat: This is where you can have conversations with AI Chat. You can see your past interactions and the AI's responses here. Students will only see the Chat menu.

Prompts/Transcripts: This menu allows you to view previous conversations that any user has had with Securly AI Chat or any third-party AI tools.

Policy Editor: The Policy Editor menu allows you to manage chat policies and settings for your school or district.
