How Securly Products Work Together: Integrations Overview
Securly's products are designed to work together on one platform, so the data and actions in one product can power another. This overview explains the built-in integrations between Securly products, what each one does, and where to enable it. Every integration below is available to schools and districts that use both products involved.
Securly Sync: the shared rostering backbone
Securly Sync is Securly's Student Information System (SIS) integration platform. It creates a single connection to your SIS and shares that rostering data across the Securly products you use, including Pass, Flex, Filter, Home, and Classroom. This simplifies data management and improves consistency and security across applications.
Supported connection methods
- Any SIS with OneRoster API functionality.
- PowerSchool via the PowerSchool plugin (PS API).
- OneRoster or Clever standard CSV files delivered via SFTP.
- Custom connections where needed.
Because the data shared through Securly Sync is already covered by Securly's existing data security and privacy policies, no additional data privacy agreements are typically needed. Direct any questions to your implementing Client Project Manager or the Securly support team.
Filter and Securly Sync
In Securly Filter, the Roster Integration settings menu manages synchronization of student data. You can sync using Google OUs, Microsoft Azure, or Securly Sync. When you use Securly Sync, Filter pulls three key data points—Organization, Role, and Grade—to construct a logical unit called a Securly Sync Unit for policy mapping.
This enables attribute-based control: Filter identifies users by "who they are" rather than only by where their account sits in the OU structure. For example, instead of a generic OU, the system can build a specific unit such as "Lincoln High District - Student - Grade 10." You can view and apply policies to Securly Sync Units from the Policy Map menu, just as you would for Google OUs and Azure AD units.
Classroom and Filter
The Securly Classroom and Filter integration lets teachers temporarily allow websites during a class session even if those sites are blocked under the student's policy blocklist in Securly Filter. The feature is off by default and can be turned on or off by admins at any time.
How to enable it
In Securly Classroom, go to Settings > System and select "Automatically unblock pushed URLs in Securly Filter."
How it works
When a teacher uses the Push URL feature in Classroom, the website or collection pushed to students is automatically allowed in Filter—but only for the students in that class, and only until the Classroom monitoring session ends. This is more targeted than the standard Temporary Allow feature, which grants access to everyone on that IP address. The integration removes the need for a separate temporary-allow review process, saving IT admins and teachers time.
Classroom and Pass
The Classroom and Pass integration surfaces hallway pass activity directly inside Securly Classroom. It is available to all users who have an account in both Classroom and Pass using the same email address.
How to enable it
In Classroom, click Settings > Systems, scroll down to Integrations, check "Enable Securly Pass integration," and click Save in the upper right. Once enabled, the Pass logo appears in the bottom-right corner.
How it works
Students continue to request passes from Securly Pass, choosing their "Departing from" and "Destination." If the teacher they are departing from has Classroom open, they receive a pop-up to approve or cancel the request. If they do not act on the pop-up, a red dot indicates a pending pass in the Pass Notification Center, where teachers can review details and approve or cancel. Teachers also see check-in options for students arriving on a pass, and a badge on the student's card in Classroom's Card view for students who are out on a pass. An "A" badge indicates an Auto Pass a student started themselves, and an Appointment Pass appears as a notification five minutes before it begins.
Classroom and Observe
Securly Observe gives teachers and school staff a quick way to record student wellness observations so counselors and student-support staff can act on them. For schools using both Classroom and Observe, teachers can submit observations directly from Classroom without opening Observe separately.
How it works
From the thumbnail or tab view while running a class, click Report with Observe. This opens a form where the teacher can add detailed notes about an observed wellness or safety concern, giving student-services teams the context they need to respond in a timely way.
Classroom and AI Chat
The AI Chat integration lets teachers review a student's conversations with Securly AI Chat from within Classroom, helping teachers keep students on task and understand the kinds of questions they are asking.
How to enable it
An administrator must first enable the AI Chat integration under Settings > System > Integrations.
Where to view AI Chat history
- From the Users menu: go to Users > Students, select a student, and click the AI Chat History tab.
- From Session History: go to Classes > Session History, select a class, open the Students tab, choose a student, and scroll to the AI Chat History section.
- During an active class session: right-click a student's thumbnail and select the AI Chat history option.
Aware and On-Call
Securly On-Call is an add-on to Securly Aware that puts Securly's team of expert human analysts behind your Aware alerts. Aware's AI scans student activity and flags concerning content into cases; with On-Call, Securly analysts monitor the highest-risk alerts—such as signs of self-harm, suicide, or violence—in real time, around the clock, and escalate to your school's emergency contacts when a student may be in immediate danger.
How it works
Aware and On-Call share the same Case Manager platform (formerly Securly Respond)—the case-management system that Securly's On-Call analyst team has used and refined for years. Flagged activities become cases in Case Manager, and when On-Call is enabled, Securly's analysts review high-risk cases as they arrive and, in an emergency, contact the appropriate people at your school or district directly.
Keeping On-Call escalation contacts current
Because On-Call depends on reaching the right person quickly, accurate contacts are essential. Manage them in Aware under Cases > School Contacts: select a school to review its contacts, edit an individual contact from the three-dot menu, or use Add > Contact to upload a CSV or add contacts manually. If you use Securly Sync, contact changes are detected automatically during the nightly sync—for example, when a principal moves to a different school—though brand-new contacts are added as deactivated and must be activated in the Aware admin UI. Review contact lists at the start of each school year and after major staffing changes.
Securly requires that all contact and email-delivery testing be performed through the Case Manager platform rather than the live On-Call environment, so that analysts' attention stays focused on real student emergencies.
Aware, CPOMS, and On-Call
In Securly Aware, administrators can enable the Child Protection Online Monitoring System (CPOMS) integration so analysts and school staff can send cases to CPOMS directly from the Aware Case Manager and from On-Call. Use the Push to CPOMS link in the Aware Case Manager to send a case.
