Flex › FAQs
Can students take their own attendance in Flex?
Yes. In addition to an adult submitting attendance from the Student Attendance screen, Securly Flex supports student self-check-in so students can record their own attendance for a Flex activity.
Ways students can take their own attendance
- QR code (from within Flex): The student logs into Flex and scans the QR code shown inside Flex to check themselves in to their activity. (This is separate from the camera icon on the adult attendance screen.)
- Barcode scanning: A student ID barcode can be scanned on the attendance screen to record the student's attendance.
- Manual ID entry: If a barcode can't be scanned, the student's ID can be typed in manually to mark attendance.
How this fits with adult-submitted attendance
The adult running the activity is still responsible for making sure attendance is complete and submitted from the activity's attendance screen. Student self-check-in (QR / barcode / manual ID) is a way to capture attendance quickly; teachers, staff, and admins can still update and resubmit attendance afterward if anything needs correcting.
